Cattle Country: Bandits & Bounties Update - OUT NOW!

News

Saddle Up, There’s Trouble Brewing in Cattle Country

Bounty hunting, bandit camps, store robberies, new tools, expanded inventory, new outfits, and more are riding into Cattle Country.

Life on the frontier is about to get a little wilder.

A major new update is riding into Cattle Country, bringing new adventures, encounters and ways to make your mark on the frontier. Whether you’re hunting wanted outlaws, stumbling across a bandit camp, crafting on the go, or simply looking for a mighty fine new hat, there’ll be plenty more to discover.

WANTED: BOUNTY HUNTERS

There’s a new way to earn your keep around these parts.

Keep an eye out for Wanted Posters at the Sheriff’s building. Pick up a bounty and head out into the wilderness to track down the wanted bandit. Find your target, take them down and head back to Sheriff Tom to claim your reward.

But you’d best keep your wits about you out there. Bandit camps can now appear as you explore the overworld, giving you the chance to clean up the West and maybe even claim some plunder for your trouble.

And it seems trouble isn’t staying outside of town…

STICK ‘EM UP! STORE ROBBERIES

Bandits have their eyes on the businesses of Cattle Country, and they’re not exactly planning on paying.

Random robberies and shootouts can now break out at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter and Bank. If you’re around when trouble comes knocking, you might find yourself caught right in the middle of the action.

Together with bounty hunting and bandit camps, these encounters bring a little more danger and a lot more unpredictable outlaw action to everyday life in Cattle Country.

TOOL UP, PARTNER

A good frontiersperson is only as prepared as their pack, so we’ve got some new equipment to make life out West a little easier.

The new Toolbelt lets you craft wherever you are, without having to head back to your crafting table. Pick one up from the store, and you’ll be ready to craft while you’re out roaming the frontier.

And for those whose pack is always overflowing with crops, rocks and who-knows-what-else, the new Extra Large Bag expands your inventory to four rows, giving you even more room for everything you collect along the way.

NEW WAYS TO CRAFT

Back at the homestead, there are three new pieces of equipment to put to work.

The Animal Trap provides another way to gather useful animal resources, while the Rock Tumbler can break down rocks into useful materials, with a chance of uncovering rare gems in the process.

Fashion-minded frontiers folk can also get their hands on the new Tailoring Table, allowing you to make clothes and hats yourself and really look your sharpest.

Which is mighty handy, because…

DRESS TO IMPRESS

We’re adding new outfits, hats and head accessories, giving you even more ways to make your character your own.

We’ve also heard from the redheads out there. Red hair is joining the character customisation options.

After all, nobody said catching bandits meant you couldn’t look darn good doing it.

GONE FISHIN’

Had enough shootouts for one week? It might be time to hang up your irons and grab your fishing rod.

Head down to the docks on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and you’ll be able to catch a boat to a special fishing spot where you can reel in fish from every season.

We’ve also made fishing a little more forgiving when you have an active fishing buff, making those bonuses feel more meaningful when you’re trying to reel in a catch.

AND THERE’S MORE…

Not everything happening around these parts involves bandits and bullets.

Alongside all of the new content, the update includes a whole heap of smaller improvements and additions across Cattle Country. There’s a ton of under-the-hood stuff too, but here are a few of our favourites:

  • We’ve expanded the pool of NPC dialogue to bring more variety to conversations.
  • Inventory counts now display beyond 9,999, giving you a more accurate view of just how much you’ve been hoarding.
  • And, perhaps most importantly, birds sitting in trees now sway with the branches in the wind.

Life in Cattle Country is getting bigger, busier and just a little more dangerous.

We’ll see you out on the frontier, partner.

BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS

We’ve also been busy squashing a few bugs around the frontier. Here’s a quick look at some of the fixes included in the Bandits & Bounties Update, with more details to come:

  • Fixed several controller issues when cooking and crafting, including incorrect ingredient costs, missing ingredient indicators and problems locking or unlocking chests for crafting.
  • Fixed an issue where your skin colour could display incorrectly when switching between creating a new game and loading an existing save.
  • Fixed a crash when playing in French during Dr. Andrew’s ninth heart scene.
  • Fixed an issue where butchering too many animals at once could prevent animal resources from being collected the following day.
  • Fixed an issue where NPC cutscene invitation mail could be sent during winter when the associated scene wasn’t available.
  • Fixed an issue where placing a Shed, Coop or Barn upgrade could incorrectly remove multiple upgrades from your inventory.
  • Plus plenty more fixes and improvements across Cattle Country.

Grab Cattle Country and the Bandits & Bounties Update on Steam, we’ll be announcing the update for other platforms soon! Stay tuned!
