Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter Finalisation FAQ

What is BackerKit, I don’t think I have an account?

BackerKit is a system that some Kickstarter project creators choose to use because it gives them more flexibility than the standard Kickstarter system; for example game codes can be made available via BackerKit. Everyone who backed the Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter is on BackerKit, the link to your data can be retrieved at any time by visiting:  https://yooka-laylee.backerkit.com

When will I be able to make changes to my BackerKit survey?

BackerKit surveys are being unlocked up until a deadline of Thursday 16th February 2017 – after that date no further changes will be accepted and BackerKit surveys will be locked down.

Can I make changes to Shipping, T-Shirt Size or Credits options?

The shipping address can be amended up until Thursday 16th February 2017.  For T-Shirt sizes and Credits options, these options were locked down in 2016 and can no longer be changed.

I can’t access my BackerKit account… what should I do?

For any problems related to your BackerKit account please contact BackerKit support: https://yooka-laylee.backerkit.com/faq#contact-us

How can I change my survey now that it is unlocked?

To amend your choice of game edition, use the “Edit Pledge Questions” button that appears in the “PLEDGE ITEMS” section, e.g. it may look something like this:

NOTE: If you are changing to a Physical Upgrade on PS4 or Xbox One you must provide shipping details. To do this backers will be prompted to select the add-on item “Add Shipping Details for My Physical Copy”. This is a zero cost item to allow the addition of a shipping address. Once added this will be reflected in your add-on items.

When the add-on item is confirmed, backers will be prompted to enter shipping details on the next screen.

If for any reason you are not automatically prompted for this you can choose ‘Edit Add-ons’ from your Yooka-Laylee BackerKit page.

I can’t see how to change my survey, it doesn’t seem to be unlocked! – Help!

The vast majority of console backer surveys are unlocked – but in some cases there’s a technical reason why the survey couldn’t be unlocked; you can spot this by looking for the “Edit Pledge Questions” button (see above image) – if you cannot see that button, it means your survey is still locked. In this case you’ll need to request the change you want to make via BackerKit support here:

What does the £20 upgrade cost for physical games cover?

The optional choice to pay a £20 upgrade reflects GBP RRP and covers the cost of goods, shipping and handling. Despite not offering a physical version during the Kickstarter campaign, we heard the requests from our backers and worked hard to offer the best possible solution. We’re aware that some online retailers are able to offer physical copies cheaper than us.  Such retailers already have systems in place to fulfil physical goods and offer the game in some cases at a loss – unfortunately we can’t compete with companies many times larger than us with facilities in place to handle physical goods. We will also provide all physical console backers with console Toybox codes to add further value. These will be distributed in approximately 2 weeks.

I chose Xbox One/PS4 as my platform. What changes can I make?

  •         Change to a PC digital Steam version (and receive Toybox Plus on PC to compensate for price difference)
  •         Change to a different digital console version (Xbox One, PS4 or Switch)
  •         Upgrade to a physical console copy w/ console Toybox code (Xbox One or PS4 – £20 upgrade cost applies)

I chose Wii U as my platform. What options do I have?

  •         Change to a PC digital Steam version (and receive Toybox Plus on PC to compensate for price difference)
  •         Change to a digital console version (Xbox One, PS4 or Switch)
  •         Upgrade to a physical console version w/ console Toybox code (Xbox One or PS4 – £20 upgrade cost applies)
  •         Request a refund

When will Wii U refunds be issued?

Refunds will be issued once we have collated and locked final decisions from all backers.

I’m a Wii U backer. What happens if I don’t change my platform?

All Wii U backers who don’t choose another platform (or request a refund) by the BackerKit lock date will be defaulted to PC digital Steam.

When will you share more details on Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch?

We continue to work closely with Nintendo on plans for a Nintendo Switch version of Yooka-Laylee and more details will be revealed in the future. We’re working as hard and fast as we can and are looking forward to giving you the answers you’re looking for on many topics including release timing. As soon we’re 100% certain of our plans, we’ll share them with you straight away – promise! We’d like to thank our many Nintendo fans for their continued patience and understanding.

Note: Upon release, the Kickstarter Switch version will be delivered to backers via digital game codes and thus no additional upgrade cost is required. For Kickstarter, unfortunately physical Switch editions are beyond our scope right now, as we anticipate the difference in costs compared to digital formats would result in further expense to backers which we’re unable to accurately determine at this point in time. If circumstances change, we’ll update you ASAP as we 100% would love to do a Physical Release on Switch.

When will game codes be sent to backers?

Game codes for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC will be made available nearer the time of launch on April 11th, 2017. These will be made available through BackerKit.

Will Kickstarter backers still receive free DLC after launch?

Yes. After release the Yooka-Laylee team is planning to create unique, exclusive DLC that will be delivered for free to all backers of the game to thank them for their incredible support throughout Yooka-Laylee’s development!

I chose digital PC as my platform. Can I make any changes?

We know that some of you would like to give us more money for our campaign – and we thank you for your amazing support! – however logistically, we are unfortunately unable to accept changes at the £10 digital PC tier and those backers will receive existing pledges as planned.

I didn’t pay for a Toybox tier during the Kickstarter. Can I purchase it now?

Currently the only way to access the Toybox outside of Kickstarter is to pre-order Yooka-Laylee from Steam, the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or appropriate retailers, or upgrade to a physical version via BackerKit. Unfortunately, due to platform holder logistics, we are unable to send additional Toybox codes to digital backers at this time.

I backed a Toybox tier and chose a console platform. Can I receive the Toybox on console?

A console version of Toybox wasn’t planned at the time of the Kickstarter campaign and unfortunately, due to platform holder logistics, we are unable to send console Toybox codes to digital backers at this time.
