Huge Console Patch Out Now!

Good news, everyone: Yooka-Laylee’s first major game update has now been deployed on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!

This camera’s doing nothin’, just how you like it.

As smug PC types will attest, this rather large update adds more polish than Madame Tussauds’ supply cupboard, including the optional ability to skip dialogue faster, bypass cutscenes (which should please speedrunners), plus a brand new optional camera mode that gives players full control of where it’s pointed – now further improved on console, based on feedback provided by PC players! (These improvements will be coming to PC soon).

Our development data-miners spent the weeks post-release paying close attention to your feedback and hopefully the additions in this update will make Yooka-Laylee an even more enjoyable experience.

Thanks again for your splendid support! Here’s a reminder of the changes and additions in this update…

Awesome news! I’m happy to say I’ve been patiently awaiting the Switch version and know that as long as it’s being worked on carefully so as to avoid any further complications like with past releases, I’ll get it soon enough, so that I can play at last! *Now I just need a Switch*……

  • Serena Vaters

I’m excited! When the WiiU version got canned I switched my kickstarter reward to the Switch version. Now, because im moving soon, I had to delay my purchase of Splatoon 2 so when this launches it’ll feel nice to suddenly have another switch game ^_^

  • DV THE FOX

A week ago i’ve platinum’d the game and now the patch comes out…Wonder if “Turning” when flying, running, ball running or worst case Rextro’s racing arcade turning is fixed too..

    • Caleb Alan

  • Ryan Morrow

  • Phazer

Any fix for the input lag?

  • Caleb Alan

This is an amazing update! You guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the updates, Playtonic! I know us fans are ready for the Switch port, but it’s imperative you guys not rush things if technical issues arise. Stay encouraged!

  • Dylan Barrett

Awesome! I really hope you release a physical copy for the Switch!

  • ckdiz

I respect how you took the time to get feedback on PC and implement improvements before pushing the console update – in spite of my eagerness to finish the game after it was available on PS4. Props. Thanks!

  • Miguel Angel Rios Alcaraz

I have not purchased the game yet, however these type of updates increase the hype! Hope I get ASAP for my PS4! CONGRATULATIONS PT!

  • Seth Falconer

I’m going to update and replay through the game. My kids ask me to all the time! Good work guys!

  • Twilightlicous

I just wanna know, when your game struggles to run on Xbox One and PS4, how do you expect it to run on the Switch? lol

    • Gramini

The engine (Unity) always struggle with PS4 and XBOX One, while the Switch’s architecture is more like an overpowered phone, where Unity is well optimised for.

      • Yan Dawid

The game never really struggled, it was just locked at 30fps, like most console games. Unity, or any modern engine, doesn’t natively struggle on any computer – it’s just how it’s used and how it’s optimised (and it’s not optimised for mobile, it has optimsational options for mobile that the developer has to take advantage of – it’s not natively better on mobile). The game on PS4, for me, ran no worse than Crash N-Sane Trilogy and honestly Yooka-Laylee packed in more detail on screen than that game ever did. If anything it’s the consoles themselves that are too weak to properly handle multiplatform games that exist on PC (hence why they’re locked at 30fps instead of running free at 60fps).

  • Timo Jünger

great xD last week i have got the game, finished it yesterday, and exactly now comes the update. xD

keep up the good work 🙂 ! I love this game 🙂

  • Yan Dawid

Great that it JUST came out as soon as I beat the freaking game! Haha!
I’ll replay it when the 64-Bit filter becomes accessible… unless that’s some Stop N Swop sheet I gotta wait for in a sequel? 😉

  • Ultra M 644

Can’t wait for the Switch version to come out

  • SolidSonicTH

Is it really so hard to talk about the Switch version? Tell us anything?

I mean didn’t we help back this game? The Switch backers even took on the additional wait time instead of demanding a refund (if they were Wii U backers initially). Don’t you appreciate it?

    • Ty

I would prefer them to actually come out with the true reasons why it’s taking so long. I wouldn’t care that it’s taking so long if there was some substance as to why.

    • Melody Jackson

      Settle down. Play another game.

      • SolidSonicTH

HEY, I need more Switch games.

  • Yan Dawid

    *SPOILERS MAYBE*
Just noticed the “Loading Exposition” got bumped up from 50.1% to 75%… what’s gonna happen???

  • Dominick Ménard

Seriously, the Nindies have past, and we havent got a release date yet. It’s been almost a month since your last news about Yooka-Laylee on the Switch.

I really hope you will think about the die hard fans,
